Caloocan to host Jan. 28 world class boxing match


CALOOCAN Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas president, Councilor Ricojudge "RJ" Echiverri are inviting residents to watch the boxing match between Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr. and Super James Singmanasak of ThaiLand which will take place in the city on Jan. 28. The clash between Peñalosa and Singmanasak is scheduled at 6 p.m. at the Recom Dome in Barangay 179, Amparo, Caloocan City. Admission for the world-class bout is free, Echiverri said. The mayor thanked the GMA television network, which will broadcast the fight between Peñalosa and Singmanasak. Retired Filipino boxing world champion Gerry Peñalosa is the fight promoter.

Other scheduled undercards will feature the following matches: Gerry Pateno vs. Jay Barleo; Raymond Empic vs. Llaminado Besmanos; Rex Tso vs. Mabert Paulino; Aldrin Guara vs. Larry Abarra; Dave Peñalosa vs. Raymond Colambot; Albert Gonzales vs. Sonny Katiangdagho; Derek Rabang vs. Gerald Cortez; Renren Tesorio vs. Roy Albaera; Karlo Quinto vs. Mark Joseph Costa; Michael Farinas vs. Robert Rubillar; Sonny Boy Jaro vs. Samuel Apuya; and Rey Perez vs. Marvin Mabait.

Echiverri said the fight between Peñalosa and Singmasanak is part of the city's golden celebration for its upcoming 50th Foundation Anniversary. "This fight was especially put together for those who enjoy exciting boxing action. We invite everyone to come and watch the fight between our very own Peñalosa against Singmanasak, which will be for free," he said. City police chief, Sr. Supt. Jude Wilson Santos, will deploy additional police officers in the fight venue in order to ensure public safety. PNA
