China to host Women’s World Golf Championship


THE Women's World Golf Championship will be held from March 2 to 4 at Mission Hills in Haikou, capital city of South China's Hainan Province. This is the first time for China to host such a big golf event, organizers said. The event is recognized by European Women's Professional Golf Tour and Chinese Women's Professional Golf Tour. Golfers are expected to get two points for the Golf Tour. According to organizers, the event consists of three small golf matches, including 54-Hole Individual Match, 54-Hole Team Championship for Professionals and 54-Hole Individual Match for Amateurs.

Two golfers chosen from each of 18 countries and regions will take par t in the team match. The world's top golfers from Women's Professional Golf Tour of the USA, South Korea, Japan and Australia as well as Europe and China will come to such a big golf event. Zhang Xiaoning, vice president of China Golf Association (CGA), said that Women's World Golf Championship will offer an important global platform for Chinese golfers and push women's golf in China to a new stage.

The Chinese Women's Professional Golf Tour, formally established in December 2008, has been actively enhancing cooperation with world's golf organizations, thus providing a good chance for Chinese golfers to communicate and catch up with other golfers in the world. Li Hong, an official from Chinese Women's Professional Golf Tour, said that their goal is to host more than 20 golf events before 2016 Olympics and make ever y effort to cultivate world level golfers on the road to Olympics.
