GINGOOG City-Relatives of the 104 passengers and crew who died in the Feb. 2, 1998 crash of a Cebu Pacific plane visited the Flight 387 shrine at the foot of Mt. Sumagaya in Claver, Misamis Oriental, on Thursday to once again remember their loved ones. Mt. Sumagaya, although belonging to the Misamis Oriental town of Claveria, can be seen and reached in over an hour Land trip from this city. Considered the worst air disaster in the country at that time, a monument was also built at Oro Gardens near the Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City.
Dominador Oca Talan, who lost a close relative, Ricardo Oca, to the plane crash 14 years ago, said he went to the shrine at the foot of Mt. Sumagaya using a rented motorcycle. Talan said relatives of other crash victims from all over the country went to the shrine to offer prayers for their dead. Some members of rescue teams who helped in the search and retrieval of the victims also came. The Cebu Pacific plane was then carrying six crew members, including pilots, and 98 passengers from Manila's domestic airport bound for Cagayan de Oro City when it crashed. PNA
