THE brother of slain actor Ramgen Revilla pleaded not guilty to murder and frustrated murder charges before the Paranaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Tuesday. Ramon Joseph "RJ" Bautista entered the plea when he was arraigned before the sala of Paranaque RTC Branch 274 Presiding Judge Fortunito Madrona in connection with the killing of his brother last October 28 inside their residence at BF Homes, Paranaque City. He was also charged with the frustrated murder of Ramgen's girlfriend, Janelle Manahan. Joseph arrived at the courtroom under heavy guard from the Paranaque City Jail where he is detained since his arrest last year. Aside from him, authorities have also charged his sisters, Maria Ramona or "Mara" and Ma. Ragilyn or "Gail" and her husband Hero Furuyama, saying they have conspired to kill their elder brother.
Ramona left the country last November 4, a day after recanting her earlier statement that she was abducted by her brother's assailants when they fled the crime scene though she insisted on her innocence. Authorities dismissed the abduction story as part of an elaborate hoax designed to cover her role in the crime. Also charged in the murder were alleged gunmen, Michael Nartea and Roy Francis Tolisora as well as couple Glyza Visda and Norwin De La Cruz. They were implicated by witness, Ruel Puzon, who claimed to have knowledge of the Revilla sibling's plot to kill Ramgen. PNA
