THIS year, SM City Cagayan De Oro together with Xavier University Center for Culture and the Arts (XCCA) presents the fourth Cinemagis, which is a Northern Mindanao-wide fi lm festival, showcasing the talents of filmmakers both amateur and professional-with 12 entries for the student category and three entries for the professional category.
With the filmmaking industry becoming increasingly lucrative and instant, there is a demand for fi lmmakers with stories to tell and the Cinemagis aims to encourage these very filmmakers to come up and make their stories and aspirations known. Majority of the entries in this year's Cinemagis depicts self-determination, as well as the youth's lifestyle and popular culture. And what is a fi lm festival without awards? Immediately following the fi nal showing of the entries, an awards ceremony will be held to honor the fi lms with the Best Art Direction, Cinematography, Story, Editing, Sound Scoring, Actor, Actress and Director, to be held at the SM City Cagayan de Oro Atrium.
The films featured in the Cinemagis for the student category are "Carmen", "Kaarawan", "Ngulam", "Flatline" and "Bahandi" respectively, and for the professional category, "Colein", "Dyandi" and "BF". The Cinemagis is a three day fi lm festival, starting January 18 and ending January 20 with the following schedule: January 18, 2012 - regular showing, Cinema 2 SM City Cagayan De Oro, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; January 19, 2012 - Cinema 2, SM City Cagayan De Oro, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.; January 20, 2012 - Xavier University Little Theater, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by an awarding ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at the SM City Cagayan De Oro Atrium.
