PAGADIAN CITY -- To give performers a well-deserved rest after the week-long celebration of the Pasalamat festival, President Aquino declared a special non-working holiday in the city of Pagadian today, January 16. In Proclamation No. 108 issued by the President on January 5, it said the city of Pagadian celebrates its annual city fi esta dubbed Pasalamat festival on January 7 to 16, 2012.
"To enable the people of the city of Pagadian to fully participate in the occasion, the offi ce of the city mayor requested that Monday, January 16, 2012 be declared as special (nonworking) day," the proclamation said.
The President said he declared January 16 a special nonworking day to "give full opportunity to our people to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies". The proclamat ion was signed for President by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr.
