Vowing to be results oriented, the new Davao City Police Office head Senior Superintendent Ronaldo de la Rosa has issued marching orders for improved police visibility and intelligence gathering. Attending the weekly I Speak press conference at Davao City Hall on Thursday de la Rosa said not much changes will be implemented to the police programs except it has to be more enhanced with focus on visibility and intelligence to combat the number of robbery and burglary cases in the city. Within hours before formally taking over the reins of the DCPO, an armed hold-up group operating in Toril District was neutralized by combined elements of the DCPO and Task Force Davao. "Apat ang nahuli sa Toril." (Four were arrested in Toril) dela Rosa said of the police operation which netted the group involved in several robbery hold-up incidents in Davao City and Davao del Sur.
Dela Rosa said that the arrest is a major victory for the DCPO describing the robbers as a big-time group. According to earlier news reports, the three of the four robbers belonging to the notorious Amarillo group were flagged down on a checkpoint conducted last Sunday evening (Janurary 30). The fourth member was arrested earlier in an entrapment operation. De la Rosa also bared that he is a result -oriented person. Describing his management style, de la Rosa says whenever he assigns a task he always looks for results. In an earlier interview he warned non-performing policemen to shape up as he announced a revamp among several police stations in the city. He said that he has to meet Mayor Sara Duterte and discuss some minor matters. The DCPO chief said that he will also be working for additional police manpower in the City with the Philippine National Police Regional Office. PIA
