Gov Plaza pushes quality Education for Agusanons

Agusan del Sur Governor Adolph Edward "Eddiebong" Plaza aims high for better and brighter future of young children as he is now pushing for quality Education in the province. The Governor believes that Education is what the Agusanons need particularly in addressing poverty at the countryside.
To achieve this, Gov. Plaza's administration crafted a pro- gram known as 'Pagtoon Alang sa Masanag nga Kaugmaon' in partnership with the Department of Education.
The 'Pagtoon Alang sa Ma- sanag nga Kaugmaon' has three main objectives: First, it aims to develop all elementary Schools in Agusan del Sur to be model of excellence by providing books for the barrios.
The books came from the USA, and the expenses for the freight and handling are shouldered by the PGAS and the municipal LGUs. Under the model of excellence School objective, upgrading of quality Education comes first, where elementary Schools should have functional library, computer laboratory and speech laboratory.
It is also concerned with academic enhancement where teachers, are from time to time, sent to trainings in order to improve their capability to intro- duce new and quality method of teaching.
The second objective is to establish library centers in all Schools province-wide. And the third objective is to give due recognition and awards for all the students from elementary and high Schools that excel in their fields of study.
Gov. Plaza's support to the program, the model of excellence Schools in Agusan del Sur now reached to 28. He encourages all the mayors, vice mayors and the barangay captains in all localities to look for a person who is preferred in going Schools because there is MOE.
"That is the vision that one leader needs in 20 years. Be- cause my vision is how to achieve the objective if we don't have preparation," Eddiebong said.
He said MOE is our preparation for the future of our province and most especially to the youths who are soon be the leaders of the province of Agusan del Sur.
"So, I saw the advantage on what happen with regards to MOE as it has a big potential for the Education of our children here," the Governor said.
If there is one thing we should not forget it is Education, according to the governor as it really a big help not only for the children but as well as to their parents.
That is why he encourages all the parents to back their children in pursuing their stud- ies because the benefits of it will not go to other people but only for themselves.
"Kung mahimo pa lang ang dakong pundo sa probinsiya atong ibutang sa edukasyon, atong ihatag tanan kay nakita nako nga mao kini ang problema sa DepEd," Plaza said.
Aside from upgrading the Education system in Agusan del Sur, the provincial government also offers scholarship program for the youth to feel encourage that the government is really working for their brilliant future. MELODY E. DE VERA/PPIO-AGSUR
