BF ATM yields cash to ‘lucky’ depositors

AT past 10 a.m. of March 16, the premises of the lone branch in Iligan City of the Banco Filipino Savings and Mortgage Bank at Quezon Avenue thickened with panicky and irate depositors and kibitzers. This was the second banking day in which the doors were closed and now more people have been aware of it.
One depositor was quoted as saying that his dollar account was all there, obviously implying that his savings as an OFW were deposited with the distressed bank. Some of those in the vicinity crowded at the Automatic Teller Machine and fiddled with it. By and by, three young women leapt with joy as they said they had withdrawn amounts of P500 and P1,000 from the ATM. The depositors' luck though did not hold as a few minutes after the ATM no longer budged.
