Man carrying firearm, grenade apprehended

COTABATO City--Elements of Upi Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by Police Inspector Reynaldo Gabudao arrested a man on Tuesday carrying firearm and explosive. Policed identified the suspect as Oyo Bewang, 36 years old, married and a resident of Phase 2, Malagapas here in the city.
Police said that Bewang was apprehended following an operation on an intelligence report that Kidnap for Ransom Group (KFRG) operate in their area using a Mitsubishi Lancer with license plate number NRK- 360. Police added that during the conduct of patrol the vehicle was sighted at the Public Market of Nuro Upi, Maguindanao and upon verification the person inside the vehicle was found out carrying a cal.45 pistol with serial number 925316 loaded with one magazine assembly with eight (8) rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect and the vehicle were brought to Upi MPS for investigation and disposition and there a hand grenade was found hidden in the vehicle with serial number PBR 423 and another three (3) pack bags containing assorted clothes. Upi MPS together with the nearby friendly forces within the municipality is conducting thorough monitoring on the whereabouts of the two other companion of the suspect while police handling the case readied filing the case against the suspect.
